The wireless earbuds market has boomed over the past couple of years with all major brands releasing a model that they hope will become the flagship product in the market.
Wireless headphones have been popular for years but the growing popularity of earbuds has come from their versatility – they are perfect for commuting, for the gym or for simply lounging around the house.
When looking to purchase a new pair of wireless earbuds it can be difficult to work out which are perfect for your needs with some many cool features to choose between such as noise-cancelling, touch controls, voice controls, personal assistants, portable chargers and even those which have built in heart rate monitors.
In order to help you analyse the market, we have pulled together our selection of the top 5 earbuds on the market today.
The Sony WF-1000XM3 top a lot of charts when it comes to true wireless earphones and it is hard to challenge that positioning.
These sleek and stylish earbuds pack some serious punch with the feature list as well.
Not only do they offer noise-cancelling and adaptive sound feature they also integrate with virtual assistants Siri, Alexa and Google.
The battery can keep you going for at least 6 hours of use – with the charging case adding 18 hours. We also have zero concerns about the connection strength with your device.
To pick out some negatives, they do not support aptX, the touch controls can be difficult to get your head around at the start and they lack water-resistance.
In conclusion these are in our opinion the best true wireless earbuds you can buy right now!
Optoma NuForce BE Sport4
The Optomo NuForce BE Sport4 earphones are an outstanding pair of headphones that are suitable for most situations.
For us they standout as perfect earbuds for those that want to wear them exercising however they do not look out of place in most situations.
The two earbuds are connected by a thin wire that goes around the back of your neck and come with a three-button remote-control and mic unit to make staying in control of your tunes a breeze.
For such a small pair of earphones they pack a serious punch when it comes to audio quality – as well as boasting an impressive 10-hour battery life.
Another plus point for those that like to wear their earbuds whilst exercising is that these are fully waterproof.
There is very little we can highlight in these that can be drawn as a negative and when you can buy them for under £90 in most online stores they are very well priced for the quality they provide.
Sennheiser CX Sport Wireless Earphones
The Sennheiser CX Sport Wireless Headphones are a beautifully designed pair of that we can’t take our eyes off.
Whilst we certainly do not think they are the best earphones in this list, for their price point they offer good value and their sporty look makes them perfect for wearing out on a run, bike ride or down to the gym.
For those of you that will be looking to wear them for sporting activities you will be pleased to know they are sweat and splash resistent which will help them last a lot longer and the three different sized ear tips mean you should be able to find a fit that works best for you.
They offer noise-cancelling that is good enough for most, they do not block out everything but certainly more than enough to ensure you need to be extra vigilant when pounding the pavements.
As we hinted at earlier we would not rate these top for The Best Wireless Earbuds – but if you are looking for an affordable pair for sport/exercise these should be right near the top of your list.
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2
Another offering from Sennheiser, this time the Momentum True Wireless 2. Whereas the CX Sport are targeted at the Sportier user, these are much more sleek and designed for everyday use.
This True Wireless offering is certainly hitting a lot of the right notes, with great sound quality and an impressive noise-cancelling performance.
Whilst many may say these have been designed with style over substance, there is still a lot to like. Compared to their predecessor they are certainly a step in the right direction.
They have a more comfortable feel about them now and the battery will allow you 7 hours of playback – which is perfectly possible without having to stop for a break, such is the comfort of this design.
To highlight a negative we believe that comes in the price – do they offer enough for their price point to make them a better relative option to their competitors. If you have the budget and want a cool, stylish looking pair of earphones that also delivery in sound quality, you won’t be disappointed.
Our final selection are the SoundMagic E11BT which pack three highlights that make them worthy of a place on this list.
Now, if you have had a pair of SoundMagic headphones in the past then you will know they are generally a safe pair of hands when it comes to getting a solid product at a very affordable price and these tick that box once again with pairs available online at under £80.
The most impressive feature of this model however has to be their battery life which they claim can last for over 20 hours and in many tests has actually gone closer to 30 hours. So if you like a pair of earphones that have the stamina to keep up with your listening then these should be high on your list.
With this long-battery life and low price you would think that comes at the price of a quality sound! Well you would be wrong, this model still delivers an excellent level of sound quality that makes them difficult to fault.
If you are looking for a paid of true wireless earphones then these are not for you and some people do find the neckband to be a little uncomfortable – but outside that they are a standout pair in their budget range.
In conclusion we are not able to select one standout pair from those listed above due to their differing target markets.
If you are in the market for a sporty pair of wireless earbuds then the Optomo NuForce BE Sport4 would be our pick.
If you are looking for the more stylish out and about style earbuds then our pick has to be the Sony WF-1000XM3.
